MyDragons: the Unsolicited Redesign
The St George Illawarra Dragons , like many sporting teams, have been amping up their social engagement and online presence over the last 12-18 months. They’re doing a fantastic job of it, keeping in touch with fans on facebook and twitter (and even instagram), answering questions and engaging with them. They’ve even got a social network, mydragons.com.au centred around the team for fans to connect, share photos, stories, videos and more.
The one thing that find falls a little short is some of the visual design and interaction of the MyDragons site. So I thought I would take advantage of some quiet time over January and come up with concepts of how I might improve the look of the site.
A few notes
But first a couple of quick comments. These sorts of redesigns are always a little dangerous. Whilst I can estimate the aims and goals of the site when it was created - I don’t know for certain what they were. Therefore these mockups are designed based on what I see the most important things on the site to be. Similarly, I don’t know what system the site is running on in the backend, so therefore have been able to design without the hinderance of certain things that may be hard to implement. That being said, the mockups are done based on the theory of them being built up with html and css so all of that should be possible.
Anyway, on to the mockups (click for a larger view)
So what do you think?
